The concept of “Drunk Shakespeare” is simple. A group of professional actors gather on stage to perform one of the bard’s most prominent works. One of these actors proceeds to down five shots of whiskey. The rest of the actors then attempt to perform the rest of the play while their co-star struggles to deliver their lines and remember their cues.

If you’re after a traditional and serious Shakespeare performance, this off-Broadway laugh-fest is not for you. If you are after witty off-script additions, audience participation and a hilarious and improvised interpretation of Shakespeare, you will likely spend your evening in hysterics.

Tickets are far more budget-friendly than a Broadway show. For a little extra, audience members can buy the honor of being crowned “King and Queen” of the performance. In addition to receiving a bottle of champagne, the king and queen get to sit on a throne, wear a crown, and set the nominated actor tasks. If they fail, the king shouts “off with their head!” and they have to do another shot.

We won’t give any more away but what we will say is this. Drunk Shakespeare is a unique experience which will have Shakespeare lovers and the impartial equally in hysterics.
