]]> Egypt has always been a popular tourist destination and now there are even more reasons to visit it. New museums that opened recently have pushed Egypt to the top of our list of places to visit. Let’s see what they are. 

Sharm El-Sheikh National Museum 

The Sharm El-Sheikh National Museum opened in late 2020 and it’s the first museum of antiquities in Sinai, located on airport road. With a budget of a little over $52 million, the new museum has three display halls, a theatre, event squares, and retail space. 

Kafr El-Sheikh Museum 

The new Karf El-Sheikh Museum opened a few months ago. It’s located in the Sana’a Gardens in Karf-El Skeikh, around 120 km away from Alexandria. The museum shows how the city has changed throughout different periods and highlights the time when it was the capital of Egypt. 

Royal Carriage Museum 

Visit Cairo to see its new Royal Carriage Museum, located next to the historical mosque of Abu El Ellah. The museum, as its name suggests, shows a variety of royal carriages, uniforms, and accessories that were once used by the royal family for various occasions.

Largest Archaeological Museum in the World

The Grand Egyptian Museum, or the Giza Museum, will be the largest archaeological museum in the world. It is currently under construction in Giza, Egypt.

Ancient Egyptian Collection

The museum will house ancient Egyptian artifacts including the complete Tutankhamun collection. Many of these pieces will be displayed for the first time in history. Never before has there been such a large museum devoted entirely to one civilization.

Canopic jars were used by the ancient Egyptians during the mummification process to store and preserve the Viscera of their owner for the afterlife. They were commonly either carved from limestone or were made of pottery.These jars were used by the ancient Egyptians from the time of the old kingdom until the time of the late period or the Ptolemaic period, by which time the viscera were simply wrapped and placed with the body. The viscera were not kept in a single canopic jar each jar was reserved for specific organs. Canopic jars of the Old Kingdom were rarely inscribed and had a plain lid. In the middle Kingdom inscriptions became more usual, and the lids were often in the form of human heads. By the nineteenth dynasty each of the four lids depicted one of the four sons of horus, as guardians of the organs.

Near the Giza Pyramids

It is located around 1.5 miles from the Giza pyramid complex and is approximately 480,000 square meters in size. The museum is part of the new master plan for the Giza Plateau.

Virtual Reality

The museum is designed to have the latest advances in technology. It will have virtual reality renderings that will allow you to walk the emerald shores of ancient Egypt and see the pyramids and crumbling sphinx come alive before your very eyes.

Children’s Exhibits

It will also have exhibits aimed specifically at children with interactive activities. It will be the perfect destination for families and schools alike.

Hurgdaga musuem After a much-anticipated wait, Hurghada’s very first museum, deemed the first space to exhibit antiquities on the Red sea coast, has been inaugurated . With a strong focus on ‘Beauty and Luxury’ across ancient Egyptian to modern history, the museum is home to over 1,500 artifacts which are exhibited according to various themes such as daily life, sports, royal imagery in ancient Egypt. Additionally, more distinct items are exhibited, such as Coptic icons, a decorated case which encases the Torah scrolls, oil painting portraits, as well as a unique bust statue of queen Meritamun. Merit-Amun, Ramses II’s daughter, painted limestone statue, from the Ramesseum at Thebes. Detail. Egyptian Civilisation, New Kingdom, Dynasty XIX. Most of the items were taken from artifact storages from areas in the Red Sea area as well as from the rest of the country.
