Founded in Roanne, a small town in the Loire Valley, in 1948, Pralus is a family-run patisserie that has a secret recipe. While Roanne is a lovely town, it’s a little out of the way, so you don’t have to travel down to the Loire to try Pralus’ delicious secret, they have branches in many French cities, including multiple shops in Paris and Lyon. In fact, they have a boutique right next to the Louvre and Pompidou Center. If you try their treats in Paris, they might be worth a road trip visiting all their branches around the country.

La Praluline

The Praluline is Pralus’ own invention, developed by Auguste Pralus in 1955. This pastry is a brioche that has rose pralines baked into it. This is one of the best pastries we’ve ever tasted!

The Chocolates

Pralus serve much more than just the Praluline, they are not just a patisserie but also a chocolatier, with Auguste’s son, François, manufacturing his own chocolate from scratch.

Sustainability

Since they make their own chocolate, Maison Pralus have control over the manufacturing and material sourcing processes. In fact, they have their own cocoa plantation in Madagascar, where the beans are grown in a sustainable, environmentally-friendly, organic farm.
