After eight years of planning and construction, New York City’s Little Island Park was finally opened to the public in May of 2021. This incredibly unique park is like nothing you’ve seen before. The most iconic feature of Little Island is the series of piles, nicknamed “concrete tulips” that essentially hold up the park.

This area which has once been derelict with only the remains of what used to be Pier 54 is now home to more than 250 species of grass, shrubs, trees, and other flora. More than 66,000 bulbs and 114 trees have been planted. Some of them are expected to grow to 60 ft tall!

Besides the lush green spaces, the park offers some of the best views of lower Manhattan all the way to the Statue of Liberty. There is also a brand new 812-seat amphitheater that features daily art shows for visitors of all ages.

Now that Little Island is officially completed, New Yorkers won’t have to travel far to find a serene nature getaway. You can visit Little Island by reserving a spot on their website.
