The post Would You Visit this Creepy Namibian Ghost Town? appeared first on Traveler Master.
]]>Although Namibia has been inhabited by natives for thousands and thousands of years, Germany colonized the territory in 1884 and began to exploit the land’s natural resources.
One of these natural resources was diamonds, which German miners began anxious to exploit. For this reason, they established the town of Kolmanskop 10 kilometers inland from the port city of Luderitz in 1908.
After the town was founded, it slowly began to attract other Germans which were anxious to strike it rich. Under the orders of the German Empire, Kolmanskop was built in the style of a German town.
After World War II and the depletion of diamond resources in the area, the town was abandoned. However, due to its location in the extremely arid Namib Desert, the town was excellently preserved and can now be visited.
However, it might give some tourists the heeby-jeebies. Why?
The sand dunes of the desert have begun to overcome the buildings that are left in the town. This gives the town, which can be visited by tourists that obtain a permit, a creepy and surreal vibe.
In fact, the strange appearance of the town has led various movies to be filmed in Kolmanskop.
What do you think? Is Kolmanskop cool, or too spooky to visit?

]]>The capital of the United Arab Emirates records scorching temperatures all year round, but due to the magic of modern innovation and technology, an indoor ski resort called Ski Dubai has been constructed in the most unlikely of places.
This ski park is situated within the complex of the Mall of the Emirates, which is one of the biggest and most grandiose shopping centers on the planet.
Ski Dubai is located completely indoors and with the help of some serious air conditioning, maintains a temperature around 0 degrees Celsius all year.
An 85-meter high indoor slope has been built inside of Ski Dubai to simulate the conditions of skiing in the mountains outdoors.
It includes five different ski runs of varying difficulties, so that all skiers, from novices to the most experienced slope riders, are able to enjoy their experience.
In addition, Ski Dubai is also the habitat of several penguins that have been taken there to live! On various occasions throughout the day, the cute animals are let out of their enclosures to mingle with the skiers.
Ski Dubai is a unique and unforgettable experience for any traveler in Dubai.

]]>The Hôtel de Glace is a hotel that is made completely out of a very unique construction material: ice.
Owing to the hotel’s composition, the Hôtel de Glace is only open in winter. If you have the opportunity to visit Quebec during the coldest months of the year, however, staying in this ice hotel will be one of the most surreal experiences you’ll ever have.
Not only is the hotel’s building constructed out of ice, but what makes this hotel truly one-of-a-kind is the fact that nearly everything that composes the hotel is made of ice.
That’s right: the furniture, the beds, and even the champagne flutes and cocktail glasses in the hotel’s bar are made of ice. It’s so cold there in the winter that they stay completely frozen.
Guests have to sleep in a warm sleeping bag on top of their ice beds so that they don’t freeze, but not to worry: the deluxe suites in the hotel come with their own fireplace, so you’ll stay warm.
The Hôtel de Glace even has its own wedding chapel where guests can get married in what would be a very unique setting to tie the knot. It might be chilly, but you’ll never forget your experience at this one-of-a-kind hotel.
