]]>Käsekrainer is one of those iconic meat dishes that people might think are schnitzels, but they’re actually not. They come from the same country but they’re quite different. During the holidays, these scrumptious sausages are sold everywhere in stalls around Vienna, Austria.
This filling sausage is stuffed with tiny chunks of cheese to give you a shot of calcium with every bite. “Käse” translates to cheese and the other half of the word, “Krain,” is the German version of the region in Slovenia called Kranjska. The streets of Vienna are teeming with stalls that sell this unique dish.
Smoked paprika complements this dish incredibly well and so does fresh herbs. From being sold in the streets to high-end restaurants – this sausage is crispy on the outside and gooey on the inside.
