The Jalapão State Park is one of the most amazing adventure destinations in Brazil. There’s plenty to explore, from waterfalls to sand dunes and canyons, and it can take a while to absorb everything.

One of the favorite activities of visitors who go there is swimming in fervedouros, unique karst springs. The biggest one is called Ferveduoro do Ceica. Ferveduoros are not hot springs, but karst springs that provide refreshment in the middle of the dry region.

Jalapão has existed as a park since 2001, but it wasn’t very well known among travelers until recently. It’s the perfect place to go if you want to enjoy untouched nature and it can be a bit complicated to get there. It requires a flight to Palmas and a six-hour drive on unpaved roads, but the trip is well worth it.

The majority of people who visit Jalapão are Brazilian. Just as the park was starting to become popular among international tourists, the pandemic hit, and the local tour operators and hoteliers are hoping to have guests again soon. The park was closed in March and reopened in October.
