Unlike the majority of Vienna’s most recognizable buildings, the Hundertwasser House hasn’t been around for centuries. It was constructed between 1983 and 1985, based on the concept of Austrian artist Friedensreich Hundertwasser, who joined forces with architect Joseph Krawina.

Hundertwasser’s designs were always known for their unusual blend of different shapes and colors, and the same can be said about the Hundertwasser House. Its quirky, colorful exterior transformed it into one of Vienna’s architectural highlights.

That’s not the only thing that makes this apartment complex so special. The Hundertwasser House features undulating floors, and it looks like a beautiful green oasis in the heart of Vienna’s thanks to 250 trees, plants, and bushes growing on its roof and balconies.
