Chamonix is a popular destination for tourists as it offers excellent skiing in the winter and abundant hiking and trail running options in the summer months. Here are three-day hikes you can do from Chamonix in the summer months.

Chamonix – Le Brevent

Le Brevent is a mountain that sits at 8,284 feet above sea level opposite the Mont Blanc massif and can be reached from Chamonix via a four-hour walk. There is also a cable car if you want a slightly shorter walk. Once at the summit of Le Brevent, there are amazing views across the valley of the summit of Mont Blanc and the surrounding mountains.

Chamonix – Mer De Glace

The walk from Chamonix to Mer De Glace is one of the quieter hikes from Chamonix, so you can find a bit of tranquility on this one. It is a surprise that it’s not more popular however, as it takes in some stunning woodland, great mountain views and culminates in an aerial view of the glacier known as Mer de Glace, which means ‘sea of ice’.

Chamonix – Aiguille Du Midi

For this walk, you will need to take a cable car to Aiguille Du Midi from Chamonix. This takes you to an elevation of 12,605 feet, the closest you can get to Mont Blanc’s summit without hiking. After taking in the spectacular vistas at the top, you can take the cable car down and choose to hike down from Plan de l’Aiguille to Chamonix, which takes around three hours.

The Big Sur coast has been crowned the longest and most scenic stretch of coastline in the United States. Driving the coastal highway is definitely a highlight for any West Coast road trip, but the views are even better on foot. Here are three incredible hiking spots around Big Sur.

Garrapata State Park

In Garrapata State Park you can enjoy nearly 3,000 acres of pristine hillside meadow and a secluded stretch of shoreline. The Soberanes Tails follows Soberanes Creek through beautiful vegetation, and the short loop around Soberanes Point and Whale Peak is a top choice for sporting gray and humpback whales during winter and springtime.

Andrew Molera State Park

The best option for a looping hike that ends and the most gorgeous protected beach is to go out via the Beach Trail and return via the Creamery Meadow Trail.

Pfeiffer Falls and Valley View

The Pfeiffer Falls Trail reopened in summer 2021 after being closed for repairs for over a decade. There are stairs and railings making the climb to the base of this pretty waterfall easier and safer for kids and older hikers.
