It’s pretty much impossible to find a South American country that isn’t home to some amazing waterfalls. Guyana is no exception, and passionate waterfall chasers will feel right at home in this tiny country—especially if they check out these three magical spots.

Kaieteur Falls

One of Guyana’s most breathtaking natural wonders, Kaieteur Falls holds the record as the world’s largest single drop waterfall by the volume of water. It’s located in the heart of the Kaieteur National Park and it will win you over with its spectacular jungle surroundings and wild rapids.

Orinduik Falls

This impressive sequence of multi-tiered waterfalls falls over red rock platforms and it’s just 25 meters high, but that doesn’t take away from its beauty. Its waters are pretty calm when compared to some other waterfalls in Guyana, making it perfect for swimming.

Amaila Falls

A tributary of the Potaro River, this magical waterfall has to be seen to be believed. The rapids and falls that form it flow for around two miles before dropping to the plunge pool underneath it. The nature of this waterfall may change in the future because Amaila Falls Hydroelectric Power Plant is supposed to be built around it.
