When it comes to alcoholic beverages, beer is Americans’ drink of choice. In fact, beer is the fifth most-consumed liquid in the country after coffee, water, soft drinks, and tea. It makes sense, then, that the U.S. has some of the best places to take a “beercation”.

San Diego, California

As the birthplace of craft beer, you can expect to find dozens of breweries in the Golden State. Hop on the San Diego Beer Train Trolley Tour or explore the downtown brewery scene in a vintage safari vehicle. If you’re in the mood for something a little different, pay a visit to Border X Brewing where you can sample a spicy chocolate stout.

Grand Rapids, Michigan

No beercation list would be complete without Grand Rapids which has earned the name “Beer City”. Founders Brewery is a must-see. Set in a former truck depot, the brewery is modeled after a German beer hall and offers a wide selection of seasonal and year-round beers.

Denver, Colorado

There are around 150 breweries in Denver, making it a big player in the craft beer game. There are also a variety of tours to choose from, including the Lower Downtown Denver Craft Beer Tour which features a historical walking tour, and the Rino Beer and Graffiti where you can check out the city’s street art scene.
