If your idea of a perfect trip is meeting new people and partying all day long, Gili Castle is just the place for you. This is one of Indonesia’s most popular youth hostels and a perfect place to make memories that will stay with you for a lifetime.

Gili Castle is located at the Gili Islands, an archipelago of three small islands northwest of Lombok. Gili Trawangan is the largest and the most popular of these islands and it offers a long list of watersports you can enjoy during your visit.

If you decide to stay at Gili Castle, the fun will start long before you go snorkeling or scuba diving. This hostel is best known for its epic poolside parties and a six-meter climbing wall with a tower for jumping into the pool.

It also doesn’t hurt its case that the rooms are super-affordable—you’ll have to cash in less than $15 for a dorm bed and around $30 for a private room. To make the whole thing even better, you get free access to parties and social area at their sister hostel Gili Mansion.

If you’re heading to Bali and have tired of the Westerners playground that is Kuta, head to Gili for an entirely different atmosphere. Whichever island you stay on you, you will have the chance to snorkel with turtles and see the beautiful blue coral reefs.

Here’s a guide to choosing which island is best for you.

Gili Air

Gili Air is our top choice. There’s plenty happening but it is also a lot more chilled and you can get a more genuine feel for Balinese culture. The nightlife is more acoustic sets on the beach than messy nights out and island life is laid back.

Gili Trawangan

Gili T is notoriously known as “the party island”. There are heaps of bars, night clubs and it is always full of young people. There are plenty of great hostels to choose from and you will find something to do the second you leave your room.

Gili Meno

Gili Meno is known as the “honeymoon island” and travelers joke that there is nothing to do there. It’s built for romance and it is very peaceful and relaxing, but it’s not designed for bar crawls and party boats.

We are big fans of traveling alone but Gili Meno is definitely the worst island to visit solo.

If you want to visit Turtle Point, take a boat tour from Gili A or Gili T.
