]]> Canada’s British Columbia has a coastline full of islands. Knowing which islands are the best can be hard to figure out; with the Discovery Islands, the Southern Gulf, and the Northern Gulf islands to choose from, there are plenty of islands to choose from. These three islands standout amongst visitors. 

Hornby Island

Most people don’t know about the hidden gem that’s Hornby Island. It’s located about an hour’s drive from Nanaimo, and takes two 10-minute ferries to get to. Once you arrive though, you will see that it’s worth it. The two main beaches—Little Tribune and Big Tribune look like something you would find in Hawaii.

Galiano Island

This tiny island about an hour away from Vancouver on a ferry is often overlooked in favor of its neighbor Saltspring Island. However, that is what makes it special. There are only about 1,000 full-time residents, and secluded acreages are for rent all over the island.

Savary Island

Savary Island is one of the hardest to reach as you need to charter a boat from Lund on the mainland or a floatplane. The island is only 7.5km long, which means most of the visitors will run into each other at some point during their stay. However, as the island can only host about 1,000 to 2,000 people during the summer it is a private stay. When not on the beach, you can wander through the lush rainforest.
