As the years go by, travelers are always looking for new things to do and new experiences to try. While travel has always been limited to planet Earth, it appears that we are getting closer and closer to expanding our travel limits beyond our blue and green home.

While it still hasn’t become available for the common traveler, there are companies which are making advances towards taking ordinary, non-astronaut humans like you and me to outer space.

So, just when might we be able to do so? It might not take as long as you might think?

Richard Branson’s Virgin Galactic is a British spaceflight company that’s making more and more advances towards commercial passenger space travel. While the flights on this company’s ships would not take you to the moon or to Mars, they will give you the experience to reach suborbital levels in space and experience zero gravity.

Test flights are currently ongoing with more planned for this fall, making it possible that regular travel (albeit expensive) could start as soon as next year.

While it might take a while for this sort of travel to become commonplace, don’t be surprised if space travel turns into one of this decade’s or the next’s biggest travel hits.

Most of the world is affected by the coronavirus pandemic and the inability to travel is just one of the many consequences. While we’re sitting at our homes wondering when this will all be over, we can’t help but imagine what life — and traveling — will look like once we get out of this crisis.

Staycations and Traveling Locally

Nothing stops you from exploring the place you live in even now, as long as you’re following the safety guidelines. The next few months will have us all enjoying things our own cities and towns have to offer. From local museums, architecture, and food, to nearby nature and landmarks, we’ll learn that traveling isn’t necessarily better when we travel far.

Mindful Traveling

We were so used to low-cost flights and short city breaks that we started to take them for granted. Now it’s time to go back to carefully planning and anticipating each trip. You’ll see, it’s a big part of the whole experience!

Environment Benefits

Simply put, traveling less is great for the environment. And if you want to contribute even more, consider switching from car to a bike or a scooter while in the city and travel by public transport whenever possible.
