Mongolia, a landlocked country tucked between two huge states, Russia and China, is the home to the Gobi Desert, a former sea full of marine fossils.  However, this isn’t the only interesting thing about this East Asian country that will amaze you.

  1. Despite its big territory, Mongolia has the lowest density in the world.
  2. The nomadic lifestyle is still a tradition in this country. 30% of the population are nomads or semi-nomads.
  3. There are 250 sunny days in this country each year. That is the mean reason why Mongolia is known as the “Land of the Eternal Blue Sky”.
  4. Although there are so many beautiful days, the winters are very cold. The temperature goes down to -30 degrees.
  5. According to historians, the attacks of the Mongols are the reason behind building the Great Wall of China.
  6. As we mentioned earlier, Mongolia is a landlocked country, however, there are many beautiful salt lakes around.
  7. Mongolia has the oldest national park in the world. The Bogd Khan dates its origin to 1778.
  8. Eagles are kept as pets by the nomads.
