Traveling together is a perfect way to get to know your partner better, and you’ll quickly discover they don’t share many of your interests. This shouldn’t be a deal-breaker, so make a list of places you both want to visit and explore the ones that don’t match separately.

What if your partner enjoys diving or hiking, but you simply aren’t fond of these activities? That shouldn’t stop them from enjoying them, or vice versa, so give each other space to take part in them without holding a grudge.

“Me” Time

It’s unrealistic to expect you’ll spend every waking moment of your trip alongside your partner without ever needing to be on your own. It’s totally ok if you want to take a breather from each other for a while because it will give you enough time to recharge your batteries and enjoy each other’s company even more.

A year ago, I wrote this poem for the beautiful human pictured here. It was meant as a reminder, So I’m sharing these words again today, because she deserves to hear them again, and again. And because, You deserve to hear them too. – You are strong in your softness And fierce in your kindness. You are brazen in your tenderness and your fairness is bold. Your bravery shows in your sensitivity, and humility, And your honesty is unabashed, your wisdom – powerful. You are a weight to be reckoned with in the way you keep peace. Oh, you are wild in your goodness and mighty in grace. Do not be disappointed in the superpowers you’ve been given, So many lives are changed by your ways. We see fire as a force to be feared, Yet often forget That it was water Which carved 8,000 feet of granite And crafted magnificent canyons and domes In the valley of Yosemite. You see, you don’t have to be the one with flaming words To move mountains. You can be water, too. You can roll and mold your energy around obstacles. You can contour and flow through spaces hard as stone. As you shine the surface of the sharpest spires with your gentle current, And rush with a roar which sounds so sweet, That people lay by its shores And are lulled to sleep. Beautiful one, do not dismay, So many lives are changed by your ways.
