]]>If you’re heading to Puerto Rico, be sure to add these three lighthouses to your list of spots to see.
Constructed in 1892 and rebuilt in the 1920s by the US Coast Guard, Punta Higuero Lighthouse is located at Puerto Rico’s main island’s westernmost point. The classic Mediterranean-style lighthouse towers 88 feet above a small cliff with panoramic and tranquil views of the sea.
Just off of the far south side of Punta Tuna beach stands the Punta Tuna lighthouse in the southeastern town of Maunabo. Despite taking constant beatings from hurricanes since its construction in the 1890s, this brick and stone masterpiece still stands gorgeous on the coast despite no longer being functional.
One of the most dramatically-situated lighthouses in Puerto Rico is the famous Los Morrillos Lighthouse on the island’s southwestern tip. The third-oldest lighthouse on the island, this neoclassic style structure stands on limestone cliffs over 200 feet above the sea.
