Cleveland, sometimes referred to as ‘The mistake on the lake,” used to be a very uninteresting city in the heart of the Rust Belt. In the past few decades, however, the Ohio city on the southern shore of Lake Erie has grown tremendously and reshaped itself as a great place to visit.

One great reason to make a trip to Cleveland is for its museums. In addition to art, history, and science museums, the famous Rock & Roll Hall of Fame is here as well. There are hands-on experiences for children and adults, and artifacts from the most famous musicians in the world. No matter what music you like, there is only one Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and it is worth every minute!

Cleveland also had the distinction of having the worst sports drought in all of America. The city went 52 years without winning at all until the Cavaliers finally broke the curse with a championship in 2016. Although the Indians and Browns haven’t won a championship since 1948 and 1964 respectively, the city is full of avid sports fans and game days are always fun at the stadiums or in local bars.

The food scene in Cleveland is another reason to make a stop here. At some point in the 20th century, Cleveland was the 2nd most Hungarian city in the world, second only to Budapest! The big influx of Eastern European immigrants influenced the cuisine greatly and gave birth to foods such as pierogis, Polish boys, and the famous Slyman’s corned beef sandwich.

If you look past Cleveland’s mediocre reputation, though, you will find a city that’s full of things worth discovering.

Lovers of culture and the arts will not be bored in Cleveland. One of the city’s prime attractions is the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Located on the shores of Lake Erie, this cathedral to rock’s biggest stars is a fascinating museum for any music lover.

In addition to this museum, Cleveland also features a world-class art museum. The Cleveland Museum of Art features works from artists such as Picasso, van Gogh, and Pollock. Shockingly, and best of all, admission is free!

Just west of downtown CLE is the neighborhood of Ohio City. This vibrant, young neighborhood features craft breweries, the West Side Market, and a pedestrian-friendly environment which invites you to discover its most interesting corners.

If you find yourself in Cleveland in the summer, it can be a magic place. Catch a Cleveland Indians baseball game at Progressive Field or visit a pristine Lake Erie beach to soak in the summer vibes.

Don’t listen to its critics, and just believe us. Cleveland is a trending destination that has the capacity to make you fall in love.
