Casablanca, Morocco, feels like a city with endless opportunities for exploring. There is always something that will capture your attention and make you want to look at it closer. But while doing so, make sure you also check out these best tourist attractions that the city has to offer.

Old Medina

The oldest part of Casablanca is known as Old Medina. Here, you will find some of the best examples of authentic Moroccan architecture, as well as all sorts of markets, cozy bars, and intriguing shops. It is well worth spending your entire day here, and even that won’t be enough for you to discover everything it has to offer.

Rick’s Cafe

Fans of 1942’s movie Casablanca, which stars Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman, should have Rick’s Café as one of their first orders of business upon arriving in the city. Casablanca is Morocco’s no. 1 spot with the fans of the Old Hollywood, but you don’t have to follow in the footsteps of Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman to appreciate this city. Hassan II Mosque has only been around for three decades, but it’s already one of Casablanca’s most magnificent attractions.

King Hassan II instructed the French architect Michel Pinseau to design this mosque, and Moroccan artisans from all over the kingdom helped built it. It opened its doors in 1993, becoming the largest functioning mosque in Africa and the 7th largest in the world.

The most impressive part of this imposing building is its minaret, which towers above the Atlantic Ocean at 690 feet. It’s currently the second tallest minaret in the world, and it owes its extraordinary elegance to distinctive chrome and green tiles.

Hassan II Mosque is impossible to miss during your visit to Casablanca since it’s one of the city’s focal points, located on the very shores of the Atlantic Ocean. You can admire its exterior at any time, but non-Muslims can only enter it by joining one of the guided tours. Check the times before your visit, and remember you’ll need to cover your knees and shoulders and remove your shoes.
