Located on the island of Borneo, Brunei is a small nation surrounded by the South China Sea and Malaysia. Even though it’s quite small, Brunei has a lot of charm. Here are a few places that will prove to you that even small places can be magical.

Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosque

Built in 1958 in honor of the 28th Sultan of Brunei, this mosque is surrounded by fountains. The golden domes will catch your eye and the artificial lagoon just adds to this dazzling beauty.

Royal Regalia Museum

This museum mostly displays the true power and fortune of the sultan, as well as gifts that the ruler has received from other heads of state.  You can also find places in which he has made an appearance or even miniature aircraft replicas! Sabers, crowns, dishes, and clothes are just part of the things that you can see, but taking photos is not allowed.

Kampong Ayer

Kampong Ayer is actually a floating village and in order to visit it you will have to find yourself a ‘taxi boat’. With around 30,000 inhabitants, this village functions fully on water.  Houses, mosques, police, headquarters, schools, and even firefighting stations are all built on water.
