]]>Now, all airlines are different, so we’d hate to generalize. But there seems to be a trend with most common airlines that getting a bassinet falls under a “first come, first serve” policy. This means that it doesn’t matter which seats you book on the flight. If you get to the airport early enough, you can “reserve” a bassinet for your baby, and the corresponding seats that go with it. At times, the airline will actually move those who already booked those seats to another area on the plane (crazy, huh?).
But wait! There’s a bit more complication to this matter. This “first come first serve” policy doesn’t always work. You can arrive super early only to find out that the airline is refusing to hook you up with the seats. You really never know what’s going to happen, so the best thing you can do is to book the bassinet-related seats as well, arrive early, and hope that everything will fall into place. If this policy doesn’t make sense and seems unorganized, that’s because it is.
