Blue holes are sinkholes that form underwater that look like dark blue circles in the ocean. They can typically be found in low-lying coastal regions that stayed above sea level at some point. They are very deep, which is why they absorb a lot of sunlight and get their typical dark blue color. Here are some of the most beautiful ones.

The Great Blue Hole of Belize

This is the most famous blue hole in the world. Located in Belize, it’s over 300 meters wide and 124 meters deep. It’s a very popular place for scuba divers.

Dean’s Blue Hole

If you visit Long Island in the Bahamas, you can see Dean’s Blue Hole which is the deepest known blue hole in the world. It’s over 200 meters deep while most other deep holes are around 110 meters deep.

Blue Hole of Dahab

The Blue Hole of Dahab is located near the coastal town of Dahab in Egypt. 130 meters deep, this the second deepest blue hole in the world, and it, unfortunately, cost many divers their lives after they tried to find the tunnel that connects the blue hole with the open water at 52 meters depth.
