On the top of a hill behind Piran’s main square sits the Church of St. George. The design of the church itself is inspired by that of St. Mark’s Cathedral in Venice, but its true advantage is its location, giving visitors a unique view of the city and the Adriatic coast.

The Bell Tower

While the view from St. George is beautiful and comes with a spiritual addition, the best view is that from the bell tower. Climbing means walking up 146 steps, but the view at the top is a great payoff. You’ll see Piran and its main square, as well as coastal regions of Italy and Croatia.
