The city of Berlin, Germany has a long and glorious history of flea markets. In almost every district in the city, there is an iconic flea market where vintage lovers meet on the weekends to look for authentic bargains and cheap deals.

The goods in the markets vary from week to week, and the markets are not affected by the weather. They actually take place even when it snows!

The most famous flea market in Berlin, which attracts many tourists is the market in Mauerpark. The market takes place every Sunday in Mauerpark, which resides in the Prenzlauerberg district.

The Mauerpark Flea Market is a huge market with stalls full of clothes, books, records, used posters and CDs, vintage bikes, beds from the 50s, and items from the DDR period.

There are many food stalls scattered around, including vegan-vegetarian stalls, bars, and cafes.

In 2020, an intensive renovation project was carried out in the park where this historic market takes place. Now the shopping experience is even more pleasant and easier than ever. Come early in the morning to get the best bargains, or in the afternoon before closing to get the cheapest prices.

There are many reasons we can think of to travel to Norway, but when it comes to deciding where to stay, there’s only one type of accommodation that comes to mind. Deciding to stay in a Rorbu might actually be a great way to visit Norway and have an authentic experience.

The History

Rorbus were first built in 1120 as homes for fishermen who worked along the Nordland coastline and needed accommodation for the season. The original region where Rorbu cabins were used is the Lofoten Archipelago, and in order to get the real experience, it’s best to head that way.

The Cabins

A Rorbu is divided into two rooms, and is placed partly on the land and partly on the water. One room is used as storage of equipment and supplies for fishing, and the other is for living in. Some of these cabins that were made available for tourist are original Rorbu cabins that were simply renovated to allow a more comfortable stay.

The Views

Since Rorbu cabins are most commonly available in the Lofoten Archipelago, they come with spectacular scenery built into the experience. You will be staying in a small fishing village, and enjoy a backdrop of snowy fjords and an arctic bay.

Curry is a word people in the West use to basically categorize every Indian dish. While that’s reinforced a lot in restaurants and cooking shows, the idea that curry is a dish is just not true.

Curry powder and curry leaves are ingredients that are sometimes used in Indian cooking, but using them alone doesn’t make something a curry.

Every Indian dish has an actual name, and if you go searching for curry in India, you might be disappointed.

Indian food varies from region to region, and even family to family. If you go to India and visit someone’s home, you’ll see that their family has a specific garam masala mix, which is a blend of a lot of different spices, and no two families are the same.

But in no region will you find a dish called curry, so you should probably learn the actual names of the dishes and ingredients before your trip. Even if you don’t go to India, if you love the food, you should learn the names anyway!

Another misconception about Indian cuisine is chai. In the western world, chai is a type of tea. But, in Hindi, it actually just means tea. So when you go to India, you will see a lot of different types of chai, so make sure you ask what each chai is and try to try them all!
