]]>Here are three of the American South’s most charming small cities that you definitely have to add to your must-visit list.
Charleston, South Carolina is a perfect representation of what the South has to offer. Colonial-era homes and old plantations stand alongside barbecue and seafood joints where the aesthetic might be barebones, but the food is unbeatable. Take a stroll by the palms along the Atlantic and take in a deep breath: you’re in paradise.
This mountain hamlet has long been known as an outlet for creativity and expression. From the theatres and art galleries to the dozens of craft breweries that line its streets, Asheville is quirky, fun, and one-of-a-kind. Everyone feels at home and welcome here.
My favorite college town in the South is Charlottesville, the city which hosts the University of Virginia. Its scenic location in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains and its rich history, including Thomas Jefferson’s 18th century home, gives Charlottesville plenty to see and appreciate.

]]>This unassuming spot actually has some of the best bread in Asheville. Their sourdough bagels are legendary, and the scallion cheddar biscuits are all you’ve ever dreamed of, and if you’re into high-quality, fast-casual, cheap food, this is the place for you.
This spot is super popular with tourists, but luckily, they have two locations outside of downtown that are much easier to get into. Whether you want to kick it at the West Asheville location or head to North Asheville for a bite, Early Girl is an affordable and delicious way to treat yourself.
This downtown spot can get crowded, but for good reason. Their food is so delicious and all locally sourced, which makes it an even more tempting spot. With a wide range of dishes that cover many different cuisines, Over Easy is a great place to feed a crowd.
