Are you dreaming of a getaway to the picturesque lavender fields of Southern France? There’s something utterly magical about the sight and scent of lavender as far as the eye can see. To catch this natural wonder in full bloom, it’s all about perfect timing. Here’s a quick guide to help you out.

Late June

Starting in late June, the lavender begins to bloom, and the fields start to show their purple hues. This is a great time to visit if you want to avoid the larger crowds that July attracts. The weather is generally warm and pleasant, and the early blooms are fresh and bright.

July

July is the prime month for lavender viewing. The fields are in full bloom, creating a spectacular backdrop for photographs and leisurely walks. Visiting in mid-July offers the chance to see the lavender at its peak. Additionally, many festivals and events centered around lavender, such as the famous Lavender Festival in Valensole, take place during this month.

August

By early August, the lavender harvest begins, but you can still catch the late blooms. This is the tail end of the season, so visiting during this time can be a gamble. However, it’s still possible to find fields in bloom, especially those harvested later.

The Architecture

Porto’s architecture tells stories of Roman, Medieval, and Baroque periods seamlessly intertwined with modern design. One of the most notable sites is the São Bento Railway Station, adorned with 20,000 azulejo tiles depicting historical Portuguese scenes.

Scotland is an amazing country, with something to offer everyone. If you’re heading there this spring or summer, don’t miss these stunning seaside towns. From pretty coastal villages to seafront cities, each of these destinations has something unique to offer. The best thing about Scotland is that it is relatively small in size, so if you have your own transport you could even check out all three in one trip.

Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire, Scotland

While not technically a town, Aberdeen is right on the North Sea. This means you can expect plenty of bracing wind and the odd squall of rain, but when the sun is shining you can explore the city’s winding backstreets, its imposing Victorian buildings, and its pretty waterfront areas. Make sure you try some of the locally caught fish while you’re in Aberdeen, as it’s some of the freshest around.

Crail, Fife, Scotland

This charming village is located in the heart of the East Neuk of Fife, a traditional fishing area now known for its pretty villages and coastal paths. Take a wander around the harbor, sample some of the best fish and chips in the UK, and go for a wander along the world-famous coastal path.

Helensburgh, Argyll and Bute, Scotland

This charming town is less than an hour away from Glasgow, but it has so much peace and tranquility that its proximity to the city is hard to believe. Enjoy a relaxing ramble along the water, check out the many independent shops, and explore the moorland that rises up from behind the town.
